The alt isn't staff exclusive, though I think only staff members have any so far. Rhynn made the icewolves and as such has the only Unknown Origin black Icewolf, as a "Spriters Alt". However, the black icewolves have a chance to produce black icewolf offspring, and most people who have one are currently trying to breed more to spread them around--there might be three or four total. They're not just for staff, but they're really, really rare right now, and as such I think only staff members have managed to snag any.
