Shiny-back Mole. (Shiny!)
Ok, this is another of my ideas .
The Shiny-back Moles are dark blue in colour, with shiny, luminescent backs. They are almost like normal moles, only, they can see quite well and are about the size of a giant tortoise. Their biolume helps them to see in their tunnels, and those with brighter, more attractive light can attract a mate faster. They can have a litter of babies every month if conditions are right, and when they're born they are 'ready to go', so they can tunnel and hunt for invertebrates within 1/2 an hour, but they stay near the mother for 2 weeks. The grow rapidly, and are able to breed at 3 months old, although they rarely mate so early. Shiny-backs are mainly monogamous, but may change mates throughout their lives.
During mating season they surface at night and display to one another, either attracting a new mate, or re-affirming their bonds, as the male will only stick around until the female gives birth. XD
Fairly common, if you are lucky enough to find a gathering or know where one usually happens.
Not sure about the planets, any of the ones that needs more critters, perhaps...
I'll do a couple of sketches, but I can't upload them right now. Anyone is free to try a sketch.
Any questions?

Re: Shiny-back Mole. (Shiny!)
Great topic, but how about this be changed to "During mating season the male will go and check out the females burrow and if the female accepts they will mate..."(or the female can check out the males burrow) <-European Black Bellied hamster breeding stuff.(watched on animal planet)Sallin wrote:During mating season they surface at night and display to one another, either attracting a new mate, or re-affirming their bonds, as the male will only stick around until the female gives birth. Edit:
Made a non-color sprite(except for tail)

Well they have to find where any possible mates are first, as they might be close, or far away from any other moles. They go to the surface and show off their glowyness, hoping to attract other Shiny-backs. Eventually there could be quite a few of them all in the same area, displaying. Then, any who have found mates will go back to the female's burrow, and any who did not find mates will wait until the next night, when other moles may come. It leaves them open to nocturnal predators, but, safety in numbers and sharp claws help with that problem a little. Does it make a bit of sense? XD
That sprite is quite cute, but I'm not sure about the tail. :/
