Hidden Creatures

Just curious what the "It seems that all of the creatures are hiding their eggs..." message is for. Currently, it is in every location.
Is it simply another way of saying all the critters have been taken, or are the areas wiped clean at the start of each day?

As far as I know, it's a way of saying all the creatures have been taken

Yup, it just means there are no creatures in that area.
