Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
So far I have one step to the right for the rotation of Zeima done. I was hoping I could get the other step on that side done as well but it seems that won't be possible, as I have to start getting ready for work But if I can get one side a day done I'm happy, that would mean Zeima is completely done before the end of the week and P1 almost completely. And then I still have to make Mavi, but by then I'll have the workflow down so it should be a bit easier
Anyway, long story short: it will take a little while but yes, the planets will eventually be able to rotate.

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Yayyy But Rhynn, you forgot to add mountains and rivers :c I can't release the dolphin that TCA made without rivers XD and mountains give the planet a realistic look
Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
The mountains I'm still figuring out how to make them in a realistic way. And rivers... yeah, I still have to add those xD I'm just starting out with the basic planet, then I'm gonna add mountains and rivers to them.
Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
ok lol can't wait When is Zeima gonna be done?Rhynn wrote:The mountains I'm still figuring out how to make them in a realistic way. And rivers... yeah, I still have to add those xD I'm just starting out with the basic planet, then I'm gonna add mountains and rivers to them.
Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
I decided to already add the rivers after all, since otherwise the river habitat is a bit difficult to find xD

And here's the first half of Zeima:

The other half will follow soon (hopefully)!

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Hey Rhynn, between the two, the star on the tundra on the second planet in the images doesn't move between the two pictures. Which makes it halfway in the water on the second image. ^^;
Love the details and lighting in them though. <3

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Oooh, so I missed one after all. Thanks for telling me, I'll fix it right away and post the updated version later
Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
So since I was allowed to work on Dante...I figured I'd show you guys what I've done so far.
https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img51/295/dante1.png
If you guys like what I'm doing with this I can try to do as many perspectives as Rhynn is doing--six, right?--so you can fly around Dante, too. Granted, being a gas giant, there won't be much geological variation, but I'm thinking about a quest to befriend the Iaelo that could benefit from that...

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Hmm, it looks ok, the borders of the circle where the inner planet meets it seems very unnatural... and I'm thinking that Dante can have chunks of floating land orbiting around it so that it has actual land.
Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Could you elaborate a little bit more? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. If you're talking about the outer glow it's just supposed to be the outermost atmosphere--the part that keeps the rest of space from screwing with it.Rebsingh wrote:the borders of the circle where the inner planet meets it seems very unnatural...
And as far as the floating land, would giant floating forests work? I figured out how plants could float, but floating landmasses are a little more complicated, and require some serious magnetic distortions. If you're set on floating land I can make that work, though.

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
I said what I meant XD The when the inner map meets the border of the planet, it looks really unnatural. It doesn't seem spherical. :/SilentSkieBlue wrote:Could you elaborate a little bit more? And floating landmasses would be better, there probs wouldn't be "forests" there. Maybe like weird trees that grow in uber hot climates, but yeh

Errrr could you try rephrasing it? I'm still not sure what you're trying to say. The planet is a perfect circle--I used constrained proportions, so I'm sure it is--though if you're talking about the swirly part it's not supposed to be perfectly circular.
And I guess I can put in a few small landmasses. I'm saying small because, even if they're relatively big, on a gas giant they're going to look awfully small.
(And the "trees" are like big bushes with gas-sacs to keep them afloat and masses of root-like fibers that filter water and nutrients from the thick atmosphere. Don't worry, I've thought this through.)

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Even though landmasses on a gas planet are scientifically impossible, I guess we have no other alternative. XD

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
I'm thinking the "borders seeming unnatural" is due to a lack of spherical distortion, not an imperfect circle border. Where objects (clouds, etc) meet the border, they should angle sharper, creating a sphere appearance, rather than a flat circle. you have some of this, but the angles near the edges just don't seem to get quite to the sphere level. If you are using the spherize effect in Photoshop, I recommend using it twice at max to create the full effect.

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
I used the Spherize (Filter > Distort > Spherize) at 50 on Zeima and P1. See if that helps

Ahhhh thank you guys for the spherize thingy. I can totally see what you're saying now.
Also Rhynn I love you. I read Sifs and thought "Oh, okay. How do I do that?" And then you fixed it.
Gimme just a minute to try it...
EDIT: Yaaaaay I love you even more. I thought it looked pretty before but now it's so much better.

Yes, much improved. XD Sorry about the lack of proper explanation. And thank you Rhynn for completing it.

Side two?

I'll say right now it's going to be hard to get any sort of contingency on the sides of Dante, since it's a big swirling ball of gas. I tried, I really did.
Also, landmasses attempt--There's one up in the shadow on the right hand side, but it kinda got hidden between the shadow and the spherizing. I am and was not sure how to go about making them look like they were floating without making it look like they were above everything else. If anybody's got any ideas, I'm more than willing to listen.

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Hrm. Try the following:
Make the landmass in a layer above the one you use for the 'base' of the planet (not sure how you work, just make it above the current surface). Spherize it, and then make it slightly bigger. If it's near the edge of the planet this will cause it to be hovering slightly above the surface.
The other thing you could try, is making a slight drop shadow. The easy way to do this is to double click on your layer to open the blending options and then choose "drop shadow" and play around with the settings a bit. Or you could just paint it by hand, which might look better.
Those are the things I would try. Maybe combine the two. You could also try to have some clouds go around the landmass, as if the landmass is in the way of the clouds.

Sweeet. Ok, avatar accept and description accept are coded. I shall mail you guys the URL to the moderator control panel on siteRhynn wrote:Hrm. Try the following:

Re: DIGITAL ARTISTS NEEDED
Rather then url, maybe in the settings for moderators there would be a special link to it so the mods don't have to look back in the pm to find it and if they don't have to worry about losing the link and needing to pm you to get the link again. (Basically kind of like a moderator control panel on forums, it could also be a special option on the toolbar if it's possible to make it where normal members don't see it.)
