SPRITING EXODUS Empty SPRITING EXODUS

Post by SilentSkieBlue Tue Jul 26, 2011 4:16 pm

When the Rebs is away, the Artists will play.

Anyway, just because Rebsingh is off in India doesn't mean that site production has to stop. Granted none of us lowly artists can do anything with the code, but we serve a vital function: We make the art. So, considering how most biomes still only have three creatures--and some aren't even opened yet because we don't have enough--all us spriters and idea-peoples should get together and try to make as much as is humanly possible during Rebsingh's absence. No good reason to sit around twiddling our thumbs when we can MAKE PRETTEH STERFS.

This topic is meant to serve mostly as an announcement, but we can also use it to keep track of everything we aim to get done. You can post what things you are working on--so that people don't have to skim through all the topics--As well as stuff you want help on. I'll make a list up top.

And you can also use this to talk about how the use of the word "exodus" in the title is incorrect, or whatever else, as long as it's about our Spriting Spree.

Concepts & Progress

Finished Concepts:
Wasp Dragons
Bee Dragons
Arctic Mini Drakes
Rats (finished sprites are further down the page)
Rust Hawks
Kaprosuchus
Seasonal Dragons
Zeiman Fighting Fish
Frozen Cloud Fish
Crested Red Bats
Rune Fish
Forest Keeper Owls
Acidic Algae-Backs

BIOMES TO FILL
Rebsingh wants at least three creatures per biome before he opens a new one. Biomes that are currently below this quota are:

Rainforest--Still needs three creatures--Applicable Finished Concepts: Crested Red Bats?
Savannah--Still needs two creatures--Applicable Finished Concepts: Kaprosuchus
Taiga--Still needs three creatures--Applicable Finished concepts: N/A (Arctic Mini-Drakes? Frozen Cloud Fish?)
River--Should get at least one more creature---Applicable Finished Concepts: Zeiman Fighting-Fish, Rune Fish, Acidic Algae-Back, Frozen-Cloud Fish(?)
Also should we eventually separate rivers from oceans? I think so.

THIS IS NOT ACCURATE AS OF NOW:
Quest Sterf:
We need a rat for the Zeiman Spaceship Quest, as well as something that digs a lot. Also possibly small arts of spaceship parts.
This isn't super-high priority, but I need some help coming up with domesticated creatures for the Iaelo. Somethings like the floating equivalent of dogs and cows and horses and stuff.

Other:

Drakkon is ready to help with writing related stuff. Vox should be too, but hasn't confirmed.
LET'S DO THIS

I'm shading the Penguin Hummingbirds at the moment, have the Dessert Gazelles to do, I intend to work on the Snow Mammoths, and if I still have some energy I'll work on my Fruit Fox. :3

Well, we should make sure the quests have all the creatures they need. For the quests to get the spaceship, we need at least a creature that can dig well and lives on Zeima (I was thinking of some kind of mole, but if someone else has a better idea...). We also need a giant rat (for the Aineku to catch, the rat is running away with a part of the spaceship core), also for on Zeima, for in urban area's (like Garnesto). We could make some other urban creatures as well, then.

That's all I can think of for now; not sure if the quests still need other creatures as well. Maybe a Zeiman creature big enough to use for flying, but I don't remember what I thought up for the quests anymore exactly xD

I'll be happy to help with descriptions/concepts, and I'm sure Voxezi would say the same thing - if anybody needs help with those, you can just toss us pms. c:

I've got a concept for a digging animal that I'll be posting soon; it's more rabbit-based than mole, though. c:

Working on archiving the creatures into "possible to finish," "plausible," and "doomed." I need to go to sleep soon, so I'll finish tomorrow. Not exactly sure what the difference between the plausible and possible ones are, to be honest.

Wow.
Great job, Drak.

I would think plausible ones are ones that haven't been touched in a while, but are well described/have sketches
Possible to finish are ones that are coming along, no matter in what stage, and doomed ones are the opposite.

I still need to finish up on that list, then help out with ordering things in your list format.

EDIT; list of creatures we've finished thus far:
Wasp Dragons
Bee Dragons
Arctic Mini Drakes
Rats (finished sprites are further down the page)
Rust Hawks

I think that's all we've finished (so far) correct me if I'm wrong. c:
